WCC at NHCS

When Waterman’s was built in 2004, it merged with North Haven Arts & Enrichment, an island organization which supported visiting artists, dramatic productions and art-related endeavors in North Haven Community School (NHCS). Working together to create student art shows with receptions planned and hosted by Community School students. As well as a rehearsal and performance space for Community School theater and music shows. This past Fall of 2022 we had a performance of The Wonderful Wizard of OZ. Watermans and NHCS also have weekly after-school programing, including Acting out and Creative & Curious ( learn more here about After- school programs).

Since that time, Waterman’s Community Center has continued to support these essential components of education on the island. Waterman’s currently grants NHCS $20,000 per year for these important programs.

Some of the endeavors NHCS will offer their students with this funding in 2019-2020 are listed below. In addition, Waterman’s funding supports the Arts & Enrichment Coordinator position, who works with Waterman’s and the teachers to coordinate and facilitate the best way for the arts to enrich and enhance the students’ school year.

Waterman’s also supports NHCS in other ways such as rehearsal and performance space for NHCS plays, concerts and poetry recitations in the theater, as well as student art shows, receptions and community gatherings in our gallery space.
