Summer Youth Programs
Every summer Waterman's offers a blend of new and returning programs for the island's youth. Between our week long summer camps, one or two day workshops, ping-pong tournaments, and more, Waterman's strives to provide fun and engaging summer activities for the island's youth.
Island Explorers Camp (Ages 6 - 9)
One of our most popular programs, Island Explorers, has been a staple of Waterman's offerings. Led by Amilia Campbell, the campers are outside, rain or shine, discovering the wonders of North Haven. With adventures on Mullen's Head, local farms, nearby Burnt Island, and countless trails and beaches the island becomes as familiar to kids as their own backyard.
School of Fish (ages 3 - 5) and Little Urchins (ages 1 - 3) Camps
With weekly themes such as One Morning in Maine, Out of This World!, and If You Give a Fish a Cookie, Waterman's School of Fish camp encourages learning and discovery. Children play in the classroom, visit near-by beaches and trails on foot, and learn and explore through art and science projects - and meet lots of new friends!
With walks in the woods, outdoor time on the Little Urchins playground and garden, and so much more, our Little Urchins camp makes sure North Haven's youngest population experience the wonders of summer.
Workshops and Special Programs
Of the many summer programs Waterman's provides, here are two highlights from 2017:
- Kea Tesseyman, director of Kinetic Energy Alive Dance Productions, taught two days of hip hop workshops on Waterman's stage.
- Working with the Hurricane Island Institute, Waterman's brought 12 students to Hurricane Island for two days of learning and fun.
We are working on expanding our offerings for older youth and welcome your suggestions and ideas!
