Zdenka and Jack Griswold, Roving Rear Commodores of the Ocean Cruising Club closed the loop in Nevis, St Kitts this past spring having just completed a 7 year round the world trip in their 42’ Valient sailboat. They will have plenty of pictures and stories of far-away people and places and tips for both the seasoned sailor and the armchair variety in this first presentation of their epic trip.
Jack and Zdenka Griswold quit their jobs and then, in 2009, embarked on a circumnavigation on their 42 foot Valiant sailboat, KITE. Their route took them through the Panama canal, across the Pacific by way of the Galapagos, Marquesas, Tuamotus, Society Islands and Tonga. They spent the cyclone season in New Zealand and then sailed to Fiji, Vanuatu, New Caledonia and Australia. They continued through Indonesia, Singapore and Southeast Asia and then across the Indian Ocean to South Africa and the Cape of Good Hope. Last year they sailed to Trinidad and this year have sailed the boat through the Caribbean, Bahamas and up the east coast. After 7 years they have returned to Maine with KITE and will show photos of their trip, provide commentary and take questions.
