The world around us has changed, yet the creative approach to landscape photography has remained largely the same—until now. Fine-art contemporary landscape photographer and resident Mainer, Jacob Bond Hessler, and his wife, Alissa Hessler, will explore the beauty of North Haven, inspiring students to remove the clutter and the obvious from their images, creating distinct and memorable work.
This workshop will challenge both novice and experienced photographers to see their environment through fresh eyes using North Haven, and the surrounding islands of the Penobscot Bay, as the backdrop. Students will be encouraged to avoid the easy shots, look beyond clichés, and discover exciting new ways to photograph the world around them.
Through morning and afternoon shoots, slideshows, demonstrations and a final critique, Jacob will show students how to capture a landscape and distill it down to its unforgettable essence. In addition, the class will review the work of other contemporary landscape photographers working in the fine-art world. Alissa, an art director and photo editor, will work with students on editing and post-processing, adding the final polish to their images.
At the end of this two day course, beyond a fun-filled photo tour of North Haven, students will leave with new skills to capture, critique and edit their work.
The class will span two days from July 26 - 27 and run from 7:00am - 3:00pm.
$100 per person.
