2016 Silent Art Auction: Altered Books

We are delighted to announce the return of our annual silent art auction! We are so fortunate to have close ties with a variety of talented and enthusiastic artists who are connected to North Haven. Many artists have shared their work in auctions past, taught adult workshops or camps, had an exhibit on our community room walls, and supported our mission to bring quality programs, events, and artistic inspiration to the North Haven community. For that, we cannot thank you enough.

This year, we are changing it up a little and are proud to introduce Altered Books – an opportunity to take a book of your choice and create a stunning visual work of art; you can also make your own book from scratch if that is your preference! We’ve included some examples on the next page that will hopefully spark your imagination.

The completed Altered Books will be on display in the Waterman’s community room from July 25 – August 7. During this time we will host a silent auction, with the proceeds from each book purchased split 50/50 between you, the artist, and Waterman’s. Proceeds to Waterman’s from this fundraiser will help ensure quality programs and events at Waterman’s. All finished books should be delivered to Waterman’s by Friday, July 22.

Note that all artists should supply their own books from which you’ll be working for this auction. They can be old or new, and the title(s) can relate to the artwork...or not – that’s what we think will make it truly special! If you have any questions, please contact programs@watermans.org or call 207.867.2100.
